Furnace Creek, in Death Valley, is a sort of extermination camp for the Shoshones, forced to extract borax twelve hours a day by the torturers of the Nevada Company! But Tex and Kit Willer dismantle the shady network of hitmen and sordid recruiters of naive Indians, until they discover the identity of the true owner of the Nevada! The following summer, the sheriff of Durango asks Tex and Carson for help, in anticipation of the rivers of money that will flow into the town for the Independence Day celebrations. And in fact a gang of robbers is already making shady plans, thinking of an escape route... in a hot air balloon!
