Michele Medda

Michele Medda (born in Cagliari on December 7, 1962) graduated in Literature with a thesis on the Italian crime genre. His passion for comics led him to take part, together with fellow Sardinians Antonio Serra and Bepi Vigna, in the group “Bande Dessinée.” The three were launched into professional work by a meeting with Alfredo Castelli, who invited them to collaborate on Martin Mystère for Sergio Bonelli Editore. From their partnership came stories for Dylan Dog and Zona X, as well as the creation of the characters Nathan Never and Legs Weaver.

On his own, Medda has written scripts for Tex, Nick Raider, and Dylan Dog. Between 2009 and 2010 his twelve-issue miniseries Caravan appeared on newsstands, while Lukas and Lukas Reborn were published between 2016 and 2018. Outside his Bonelli output, he produced Digitus Dei (Magic Press) with Stefano Casini, and collaborated with Marvel/Panini on X-Campus, with Rainbow on Lys, and with Disney Italia on Kylion. He was among the founders of the Sardinian School of Comics in Cagliari and collaborated for a long time on the cultural pages of the newspaper La nuova Sardegna, covering cinema and comics. He has won two ANAFI awards (one with Serra and Vigna and one individually), and alongside his work as a scriptwriter he is also active as a commentator and critic.
