Vampyr

The farkaskoldòi are undead werewolf-like creatures who serve powerful vampires. When Manfred, fiancé of Frida Lang, is kidnapped by these monstrous beings under the command of the vampiress Ylenia Varga and taken to America, Frida returns to the States to seek help from an old flame: Zagor.

At the time, Zagor and Chico are guests at the mansion of Colonel Korasi, a descendant of Baron Bela Rakosi. Korasi reveals his intention to destroy Rakosi once and for all, claiming the arch-vampire survived their last encounter.

That night, Ylenia’s farkaskoldòi lay siege to the mansion. Though the creatures are repelled, Korasi is abducted and taken to Blacktown, a ghost city on the Black River, where Rakosi has reestablished his lair.

However, Ylenia is not Rakosi’s ally, she harbors a deep hatred for the vampire who centuries ago murdered her fiancé and turned her into a creature of darkness. Zagor arrives just in time to rescue Frida from the werewolves in the swamps.

At Blacktown, Zagor and his companions are ambushed by Huron warriors allied with Rakosi. Frida is taken captive once more, and as night falls, Rakosi’s final triumph seems inevitable.

But in a twist of fate, Ylenia betrays Rakosi, aiding Zagor in his fight. The Spirit with the Hatchet pushes the arch-vampire into the flames of his collapsing home. Zagor survives thanks to Ylenia, who vanishes into the night. Frida leaves with Manfred, but a part of her heart remains in Darkwood, with Zagor.
