Plot

It was Liberty Sam’s dream and that of all freed slaves: a land without masters, a nation where they could live free and respected. But to make a dream come true, one often has to fight and even die. The mission already seems desperate, especially with malaria decimating the ranks of the ex-slaves, and the British colonizers closing in.

Fate, however, sometimes turns misfortune into unexpected opportunity. Abandoned in Africa by Captain Jean Lafitte who was forced to flee from the British, Zagor and Chico choose to stand by Liberty Sam and his people.

The only hope to fight the epidemic is for Zagor to reach Monrovia in time with the life-saving quinine for Dr. Leonard. But disease is not the greatest threat to the dream of redemption. An unexpected traitor and ruthless enemies lurk in the shadows, ready to do anything to stop Liberty Sam, Zagor, and Chico in their tracks!
