La sorgente misteriosa
Their weapons and clothes do not belong to any known tribe… Who are the mysterious Native Americans emerging from the spring that flows from the crevices of the Black Rock, speaking an ancient Algonquian dialect? Why have they kidnapped Makela, a young woman from the Menominee tribe? There seems to be no trace of the girl or her captors, and Zagor and Chico have no other choice but to turn to the knowledge of the old doctor Metrevelic to answer the many disturbing questions of this adventure.
While Chico seeks the help of Professor Metrevelic to shed light on the mystery of the Black Rock spring, the Spirit with the Hatchet, accompanied by two Menominee warriors, Makela and Lokai, reaches the eerie body of water from which the warriors terrorizing the villages of the Darkwood tribes emerge.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the spring (where a place exists in which time has stood still, trapping the mysterious tribe many years ago), Sikanda, the leader of the lake people, wants the secret to remain hidden and sends an expedition to kill Zagor. In the battle that follows, Lokai is killed and Aska is kidnapped. After discovering the portal to this parallel world, Zagor dives into the magical waters and manages to pass through.
Meanwhile, Chico and Metrevelic must deal with two dangerous bank robbers, Dutch and Quaid, who want the doctor to treat their accomplice Cox, the only one who knows where the loot from a bank robbery is hidden. Temporarily freeing themselves from the bandits who secretly follow them, convinced they know the location of the treasure, Metrevelic and Chico reach the spring. Sheriff Fairmont and his men also follow the trail of the criminals.
Zagor manages to kill Sikanda, free Aska and Makela, and return to our timeline, pursued by the men of the lake. On the shores of the spring, the final battle takes place between the Native warriors and our heroes, assisted by Sheriff Fairmont’s men. The enemies flee back to where they came from, and Zagor seals the dimensional passage for good using dynamite.
