No one knows who or what is moving among the trees of the forest in the dim light of moonless nights, but everyone has understood perfectly that being caught means death. The Onondaga sorcerer thinks it is a "naskat," a man who transforms into a beast during the new moon, while the Delaware chief thinks it is the Spirit Bear, the murderous demon spoken of in legends. Zagor instead believes it is the work of a nocturnal predator, perhaps a large puma. Whatever the truth, darkness falls and the hunt begins, on both sides...
