High in the snowy hills near Lake Michigan, the ancient Burgess Castle is cut off from the world by a violent snowstorm. Trapped inside with a dozen other people, Zagor and Chico are surprised to run into Bat Batterton, hired to protect the castle’s owner, Julia Burgess. A mysterious satanic cult believes that within the manor’s old library lies a book capable of summoning Satan himself.

Also among the guests is Father Sterling, an exorcist who warns that a dark presence is truly within the castle walls. But Julia’s secretary, Clifford Avery, dismisses these claims and mockingly dares the devil to show himself.

Then, the horror begins.

As the blizzard rages outside, a chain of gruesome and inexplicable deaths unfolds within. One by one, the scholars trapped in the dark castle fall victim to a seemingly supernatural force—perhaps even Satan himself. And this time, not even the Spirit with the Hatchet may be able to stop the Evil that stalks Burgess Castle…
