Having defeated El Fierro, the traitor who sold him to the Mexican government, and escaped the savages of Ximenes, Tex frees Montales from Mexican prisons. Leaving his friend to continue the fight for the freedom of his land, Willer returns to his homeland and is captured by the Navajos during the investigation into weapons smuggling: he risks death on the torture stake, but Lilyth, daughter of the chief Red Arrow, saves him by marrying him. Tex, using the Indian camp as a base, and wearing a mask and a black costume, carries out lethal raids against the traffickers led by Jerry Stone. Thus was born the myth of Eagle of the Night!

Tex, having arrived in El Paso, learns that a Mexican is looking for him. Having tracked down the Mexican who in the meantime had fallen into an ambush, he learns that Mexican president Manoel Perez has fallen, and Montales has been locked up in a prison. Tex will have to cross half of Mexico, to find his old partner Drigo , and finally free Montales.

Tex is sent to investigate the escape of Navajos and Blackfoot Indians from the reservates, and an alleged arms trafficking in the area. It is here that, captured by the Navajos, he meets and marries Lilith. Tex runs from side to side in this long adventure. He manages to put a stop to the Indian revolt, promising that in return he will enforce the white man's commitments. And he will do it by hitting Bessie's gang hard, helped by Carson.
