The specter of the Queen of Spades appears to Tom Paxton, who, driven mad, dies in the flames he himself has set! Some time later, the two pards clash with a handful of cowboys, and when Carson later reaches Langtry, one of them takes revenge by accusing him of stealing his horse. In town, justice is administered in a decidedly bizarre fashion by Judge Roy Bean, whom Tex persuades to release Carson. But for the two rangers, the trouble has only just begun…
