The Jinn, a supernatural entity from Arab mythology and the Islamic religion—a spirit of wind and fire—enters the fray amid the racial tensions of the 1980s between the skinhead communities of the East End and the Bangladeshis of Brick Lane, which Dylan will find himself, despite himself, trying to resolve.
