In Andean folklore, pishtakus are hideous devourers of corpses, but they do not disdain feasting at the expense of the living. The cruel Judge Montenegro, a landowner who has a corrupt army department under his command, wants to use them against the rebellious peasants of Huasimayo. The village elder, Don Santiago, was a friend of the long-lived dampyr Harlan Draka in his youth and calls him to his aid. Harlan, Tesla and Kurjak therefore organize the campesinos' resistance against their terrifying adversaries.
