Maurizio Dotti

Maurizio Dotti

Having begun his training in advertising graphics, Maurizio Dotti (Limbiate, April 10, 1958) entered the comics profession in 1976, collaborating with the studio of Giancarlo Tenenti. In 1982 theater drew him away from his work as an artist: he embarked on an intense activity in puppet theater as set designer, actor, and costume designer, which led him to collaborate, among others, with the celebrated marionette company "Carlo Colla e figli." After a brief university interlude, he began alternating advertising graphics with collaborations for Il Giornalino, for which in 1995 he produced an adaptation of I magnifici sette on a script by Luciano Giacotto, as well as some episodes of Lassie.

His collaboration with Sergio Bonelli Editore began when he produced the pencils for a Tex story that appeared in the Almanacco del West 1998, written by Mauro Boselli and inked by Alarico Gattia. Subsequently, while continuing to work for Il Giornalino, he drew Zagor and Dampyr before joining the Tex staff and becoming a cover artist for the series Tex Willer. He is also an illustrator of children's books, with publications in the French and New Zealand markets.
