Vendetta trasversale

Someone has destroyed the hut in the swamp and Zagor follows the tracks left by the person responsible, which lead him first to the Pleasant Point trading post, then to the hut of an old trapper friend. There, the Spirit with the Hatchet finds a macabre trophy and realizes that the diabolical Mortimer, his implacable enemy, has returned to take revenge! And it is a terrible revenge, which targets some of his closest friends, who the King of Darkwood will have to try to save one after the other... Mortimer is taking revenge on Zagor in the cruelest way: first he forces the hero of Darkwood to try in vain to save the trapper Doney. Then, he kidnaps Doctor Sand and Tabitha, his Indian wife, putting the Spirit with the Hatchet in the terrible position of having to choose between the life of one and that of the other... Immediately afterwards, the criminal tries to destroy Captain Fishleg's "Golden Baby" with fire! But that's not all: with the help of his accomplice Jonathan Clark, Mortimer intends to kidnap Chico and Virginia Humboldt, luring Zagor into a deadly trap... The diabolical Mortimer holds Chico and Virginia prisoners in an old abandoned prison where he has barricaded himself with his right-hand man Jonathan Clark and a small army of armed men. Zagor tries to mess up his plans by penetrating the fortress before the trap that has been set for him is triggered. In the dramatic finale, the Spirit with the Hatchet and the criminal mastermind will come face to face, with the lives of Zagor's two friends dangerously hanging in the balance.
