“Big” Maldon, known as “King of the Frontier,” was a member of Rogers’ legendary Rangers and has been involved in every war fought in the wilderness for the past thirty years. He’s a hero of sorts. But now he’s built Maldontown, an outpost in the territory of the warlike Kainah Indians. Enraged by the invasion, they unleash a bloodbath!
Zagor goes to Maldontown to prevent the death of Martin, the young son of Kaminsy, a pioneer killed by “Scar”, one of “Big” Maldon's men, who kills and robs the people of Maldontown without the leader's knowledge.
It seems impossible to escape the wrath of the Kainah who besiege Maldontown, but “Big” Maldon turns out to be not only stubborn and self-centered, but also a generous man capable of sacrificing himself for others...

This story was initially planned for a Special, as Toninelli revealed in an interview in the 1990 Speciale Collezionare Zagor , news reconfirmed by the same in his recent volume Zagor 1982-1993 Un senese a Darkwood.
