Along the road from the port of Callao to Lima, Zagor and Chico are attacked by a group of criminals intent on killing the lawyer Aguilar, who is traveling with them. Seeking refuge after the ambush, the trail of the Spirit with the Hatchet crosses with that of Barranco, the unscrupulous adventurer determined to reach a sacred city of the Incas hidden on the Andean peaks. To find her, the man does not hesitate to kidnap and take with him the beautiful Soledad, daughter of the curandera mama Jacinta. Meanwhile, Dexter Green and Yambo, having discovered important information in an ancient sixteenth-century codex, set off for Cuzco. And that's where Zagor is also headed, following in Barranco's footsteps...
