Tex and his son Kit come across a strange character. His name is William Hodson, or rather: Lord William Hodson. He comes from Baltimore, but belongs to a noble English family. He travels the world in search of adventures to put in the books he writes and illustrates. And now he has arrived in the Wild West, where he certainly can't miss a hero like Tex, even if the latter doesn't have much intention of having a foreigner on his tail. The situation becomes further complicated when a group of bloodthirsty bandits and a sheriff with a past to redeem enter the scene. Lord William Hodson has proven his worth. He's fast with a pencil, but also with a gun. Tex puts aside his initial distrust to accept this stranger as a precious ally in the showdown with Freddy Barton and his gang. The Ranger and the writer are joined by Sheriff Cameron who will also have to fight against his own fears, to prove that he deserves that tin star that is so heavy for him. And the stakes are raised when Kit Willer's life ends up in the hands of bandits.
