In search of Mephisto and his sister, Tex joins Montales, a man leading a rebellion against the corrupt Mexican government. Besides the final showdown with Mephisto, Tex decides to help fight injustice in Mexico and joins the revolution.

This story can also be seen as two separate adventures: in the first, Tex tracks down and captures Mephisto. In the second he stays with Montales, and leads the rioters to victory.

After the Mexican adventure, in which he became the hero of Mexico, Tex returns to Texas, still an outlaw, although he has obtained evidence of his innocence. He comes across infected cattle and the helpless rancher Stanfield, who is being pursued by the "Red Gang". Of course, Tex decides to help him…

The adventure is practically a prologue (in which Tex stands out for the first time among the cowboys) for the sequel that also involves the Chinese. The two stories could also be seen as a single adventure.

Going to Judge Bess, Tex overhears a compromising conversation. On the trail of the mysterious Mister X, he arrives in Maricopa, the city of opium. While Kit Carson and Marshall , warned by Tex, arrive in Maricopa, Tex "entertains" with the assassins of the Dragon, the Chinese master of the opium trade.

The story is a direct sequel of the previous one.

Reprint of
