Months later, in the sunny desert of New Mexico, Tex is involved in a delicate mission: to mediate between the Mescaleros who, under the leadership of Durango, have abandoned the reserve and the army that wants to bring justice to the massacre of a patrol perpetrated by fleeing Indians. The army's unfair retaliation is about to fall on the peaceful Mescaleros of Durango. Not them, in fact, but the rebels led by Kayta are responsible for the massacre of the patrol coming from Fort Buffalo. Tex, who managed to snatch Carson from the hands of Kayta's Apaches, must warn Chief Durango's people, but a murder charge hangs over his head and he has given his word of honor to the lieutenant who captured him, promising him that he will not attempt to escape...
