There is something rotten in Pecos City , a shady clique led by the ambiguous Judge Vermont and rancher Sam Truscott is working to take over all the economic activities of the town. To achieve this, the two do not hesitate to have the sheriff eliminated, but they have reckoned without the innkeeper, because when Tex and Kit Willer arrive in the area, they have the opportunity to resolve the situation in their usual way.

This adventure is the first of a short series of on the road adventures in which Tex takes his young son Kit around the west on a sort of educational tour.
