Camping near the Colorado River, Tex Willer, his son Kit and Carson stumble upon a cattle theft by a gang of Piutes. After putting the Indians to flight, the ranger recovers some rifles lost by the thieves, immediately recognizing them as belonging to the army. To shed light on the matter, the three pards question Mr. Elmer, the elderly owner of the ranch targeted by the red faces who, by a strange coincidence, spared the herd of their neighbor and competitor Frank Milligan. Smelling the smell of burning a mile away, Tex and his friends throw themselves onto the trail of the stolen rifles and end up slipping into a real hornet's nest around which lead confetti are flying...

For the bloodthirsty Danites, a deviant branch of the Mormon sect, religion is a pretext: their opponents are slaughtered and put to flight just to be able to grab their lands. They must be stopped! With the help of the wise Mormon bishop of Tidwell, Tex and the pards manage to finally lower the curtain on the Danites and their leader Tim Butler. Meanwhile, along the Colorado, the Piutes raid the farms bordering the reserve. Who armed them? And why are the Indians especially fierce against the ranch of Jim Elmer, a poor invalid?
