He comes across infected cattle and the helpless rancher Stanfield, who is being pursued by the "Red Gang". Of course, Tex decides to help him…

The adventure is practically a prologue (in which Tex stands out for the first time among the cowboys) for the sequel that also involves the Chinese. The two stories could also be seen as a single adventure.
