In first episode Tex Willer helps Indian Tesah recapture a mysterious totem from the hands of John Coffin and his gang; but the real target of the bandits is not a totem, but the gold of the Pawnee tribe hidden in an underground temple.

One hot July afternoon, Joe Scott, a scout at Fort Two Miles, rides his way toward Rainbow Canyon. He carries money for military salaries with him. At the entrance to the canyon, he is intercepted by the well-informed gang "Red Hands", which is known for leaving a bloody palm print during each robbery. Joe falls hit with two bullets. The bandits take the money, and by chance, it is at this point that Tex encounters. Fearing further trouble, the bandits flee, and Tex comes to scout Scott and finds that he is still alive. Before Scott's death, Joe Scott manages to tell Tex the names of the three "Red Hands" bandits. Just then, a military patrol arrives. Tex well assumed that these soldiers would unjustly accuse him of murder. He mounted his faithful horse Dynamite and fled.
