The son of a colleague of Nick Raider is wanted in Hollywood for the murder of Vicky Valence, star of the silver screen. Nick is convinced of the young man's innocence and rushes to California where he clashes with the obtuseness of the local sheriff. Having managed to reach the accused boy, who has fled, Nick has confirmation that he is innocent and that the murderer must be looked for elsewhere... Nick Raider discovers that a Hollywood boss, Mendoza, was blackmailing the beautiful actress Vicky Valence, threatening to make some of her risqué films public. In response, the girl had hired a private detective to discover arguments to counter-blackmail the boss. The actress was killed, but framing the culprit won't be easy, because Mendoza makes use of unsuspected collaborators...
