Legs Weaver accompanies Jack Kahio to Calexico to bring help to Sheila, an old friend of Jack's and owner of the Esmeralda casino. Calexico, built in the desert, is a sort of new Las Vegas, capital of nightlife (the only one possible, given that, during the day, the temperature reaches fifty degrees!), where gambling capriciously makes and undoes entire fortunes. The plate is rich and there is plenty for everyone, yet someone wants to prevent Sheila from playing her hand
