Ken Parker is on the trail of Donald Welsh, the person responsible for the many tragedies told in Murder in Washington. For this reason he crosses the desert and, once he reaches Mexico, finds himself forced to save himself from a deadly ambush (organised by Welsh's accomplices). Thus he joins Carmen and Roman, a strange couple of wandering artists.

Following in the footsteps of Donald Welsh, the assassin who killed Ely Donehogawa and who managed to start the war between Ohieva's Dakota and the soldiers of Fort Smith (see "Omicidio a Washington" , KP 4 ), Ken arrives in Mexico , where he joins a couple of wandering artists, Carmen and Roman, and finds the revived Dash!

The story takes place in August 1872.
