Catherine L. Moore, known as Kat, is a young writer who corresponds with Lovecraft and writes fantasy stories for the magazine "Weird Tales". After the tragic deaths of Robert Howard and Lovecraft himself, Kat comes into possession of the latter's secret diaries and proposes to her husband Henry Kuttner and her friends Leigh Brackett and Edmond Hamilton, all fellow writers, a surprise trip to the Nevada desert, inside the abandoned Groom Lake mine, in search of real aliens... It seems like a joke, but it isn't, as, many years later, Harlan and Kurjak will also discover at their expense...
