Thomas Weiss is a chemist and works in a clinic in the White City, on the eastern continent. In his city the underworld dominates undisturbed and the population is threatened by the fearsome "scramble", mutant monsters that crawl under the snow. Having arrived on site for the investigation, Nathan is joined by a colleague of Thomas, Dr. Diane Weston, a telepathic doctor
