Nathan is sent on a mission to the area of the Western Great Depression, in what was once the Amazon River basin and which is now invaded by ocean waters: he will have to find a couple fleeing in the jungle and recover a precious database containing information that would allow him to stamp out a sordid trafficking in human organs... Nathan, however, investigating the alleged attempted suicide of Cliff Moreland, another member of the board of directors as well as a patient of Doctor Herschfeld, learns of Winnfield's shady plans and warns Elania against the maneuvers that the fixer is plotting behind his back. The sudden disappearance of Milton Herst, one of the richest men in the East City and owner of a company that supplies armaments to the police and army, kicks off a series of attacks and murders linked to the immense inheritance which, for incomprehensible reasons, was destined to a destitute young orphan, with no apparent connection to Herst. Called to investigate, Nathan Never will have to protect the boy, who many are trying to kill.
