The Golden Age
1936 – 1959
Collana del Tex III Serie
- From number 1, on the cover, the graphic logo of the magazine changes compared to that of the first two series (we still have Tex on horseback but inside three colored circles) and the wording "New Series" appears, kept only for the first 3 albums.
- The "phantom collaboration" of M. Uggeri continues who inks several drawings by A. Galleppini in this series up to the register N. 24 "La banda degli orsi".
- The work of M. Uggeri is also joined by Pietro Gamba, who, with his clean style, inks Galep starting from episode N. 3 "II tranello" up to episode N. 24.
CURIOSITY
- In the last episodes of the third series, the figure of Kit Willer, Tex's son, seems to carve out an increasingly significant space within the adventures of his father. Space that will become even more important in the subsequent fourth series where Kit becomes the true protagonist in episodes such as " I figlio di Tex", "Il battesimo di fuoco di Kit", "Kit Willer si fa onore" and "Kit seque la traccia".
- The greatest prominence given to the figure of Piccolo Falco (this is the Indian name of the no-boy) is linked to a new publishing project on which Gianluigi Bonelli has already been working for months. In fact, given the growing success that teenage heroes have among readers [at least Captain Miki from EsseGesse, published in the same period), the publishing house is seriously intending to publish a new magazine dedicated to Kit Willer, to complement the series longest running of the publishing house.
- As well documented in the volume / Bonelli 50 of Fumetti (Edizioni la Striscia, 1986), G. L. Bonelli writes the screenplay, complete with cartoon sketches and dialogues, a story made up of at least 4 episodes entitled: "La Mano Rossa", "Una minaccia ventata", "Sul sentiero di guerra" and "Notte li terrore". The designs of this new series, which could not be entrusted to Aurelio Galleppini, who was very busy with the Tex series, were intended for Pietro Gamba, already a ghost collaborator of Galep on Tex.
- The advertising of the imminent new series was launched on the back cover of the last three Tex albums of the Third Series (we are at the turn of the end of 1951 and the beginning of 1952), with various publicity shrieks reciting: "Friends of Tex! Read the fascinating adventures of Kit Willer from the first number of the new series which will be released in a few weeks. You will be thrilled!" or "Friends of Tex!... Do not miss a single number of the new series which will be out shortly will thrill!"
- For reasons unknown to us, the project was not completed and the series never made its debut on Italian newsstands; perhaps due to an afterthought by the screenwriter or editorial choices that changed at the last moment and of which we are unaware.
- Of the Kit Willer series there are only the scripts sketched by Bonelli and, perhaps, some initial sequence drawn by Pietro Gamba.
