The murder of an American in Italy, by Don Vito Saracyno's men, comes to Nick's attention thanks to some tourists who had met the victim. The killed was a federal agent and Max Random of the FBI chooses Nick Raider, who was already dealing with the case, to replace the eliminated agent. Accompanying him to Italy is agent Brenda Stacy. In fact, a mafia summit is about to be held in Rome with representatives of Cosa Nostra, the Yakuza and the Chinese Triads.
