An old Italian-American mafia boss, Lucky Talese, is dead. Two new bosses aspire to inherit the role, Vito Saracyno and Vincent Torrio. A gang war looms and, during a public meeting between Max Random of the FBI and the New York police force on how to deal with it, Nick Raider intervenes, asking why the FBI had always had an eye on Talese until his death. Random hides behind a "no comment", but soon the truth comes out...
