Dragonero is sent incognito to a prison inside a mountain, where the inmates are left to their own devices, in a microcosm full of violence and abuse. The only people who can come and go from the mountain freely are the Black Blades, a feared guild of hitmen. They are responsible for the attempt on the life of Myrva, Ian's sister, and the Imperial Family.
