A black man has just been hanged for murder on the public street, when another takes refuge in Bella and Bronco's carriage to escape capture. His name is Pythagoras, he is educated and swears he is innocent. For the couple it is impossible to leave him in trouble, so they all leave the city together to ask for asylum at the mission of Father Pierre, the Salesian who raised and educated Bronco... Mattanza wants his boat and his load of weapons back, Bella and Bronco have promised Father Pierre to recover the sacred furnishings, and solid gold, that Pythagoras stole from the mission. It is inevitable for the three to team up, so they set out on the trail of the fugitive who, after crossing the jungle, has founded nothing less than a kingdom.
