Mario Uggeri (Codogno, February 17, 1924 - Merate, March 8, 2004) was taken prisoner during the Second World War and spent two years in the Dachau concentration camp.
Self-taught, he entered the world of comics with Ravengart, a Raymond Chandler-style mystery produced for the publisher Torelli. Called upon by Tea Bonelli, he drew Ipnos and Yuma Kid for the Audace publishing house, in addition to redrawing Warren Tufts' Casey Ruggles as Red Carson, all naturally based on scripts by Gianluigi Bonelli.
He also drew two Tex adventures but soon abandoned the then-nascent saga of the Eagle of the Night to give graphic form to Luigi Grecchi's Rocky Rider for Universo. He later collaborated with the Studio D'Ami, working for the British market and moving to London. Again through Rinaldo Dami, he began working for the Corriere dei Piccoli, with which he eventually worked exclusively, becoming an employee of the publishing group, for which he illustrated, among other things, many covers of the Domenica del Corriere.
Together with Mino Milani he created the illustrated stories of Tommy River, one of the great successes of the Corrierino in those years, and in 1984 he definitively left comics to devote himself exclusively to illustration.
