Luigi Piccatto

Luigi Piccatto (born in Turin, 1954 - died March 14, 2023) was an Italian comics artist who had been part of the Dylan Dog staff since the earliest issues of the series devoted to the Nightmare Investigator. He drew some of the issues most beloved by readers, such as Cagliostro!, I conigli rosa uccidono, and Golconda!. He also illustrated all the small companion booklets devoted to Groucho that were included with the Speciale Dylan Dog releases, from issue 6 in 1992 to issue 13 in 1999.

He abandoned his medical studies in 1977 to dedicate himself to comics and to work for Corrier Boy. In the early 1980s he produced short stories for LancioStory and Skorpio, and in 1985 he began alternating his work as a comics artist with that of a freelance advertising illustrator.

His Bonelli debut came the following year with the Dylan Dog episode Il ritorno del mostro. In the years that followed he also published in the Corriere dei Piccoli, while for Sergio Bonelli Editore he drew, among other things, the first issue of Demian and the graphic novel Darwin, which in 2019 gave rise to an eight-issue miniseries. He passed away on March 14, 2023, only a few months after returning to work following a long illness.
