Giovanni Freghieri

Giovanni Freghieri

Giovanni Freghieri (born in Piacenza on January 28, 1950) is an Italian comics artist. Still a teenager, he began honing his craft at the studio of Giancarlo Tenenti, and at the age of twenty he started a long collaboration with Universo, producing many stories for "Intrepido" and "Il Monello," including the serial "Sorrow" written by the Cicogna brothers, which continued for nearly a decade and for which he drew over a hundred episodes. He later worked on "Lanciostory" and "Skorpio" for Eura Editoriale, and in 1986 he collaborated with Comic Art.

His relationship with Sergio Bonelli Editore began with a couple of episodes of Bella & Bronco and then extended to Martin Mystere before reaching Dylan Dog. Fittingly, it was he who drew the first two encounters between the Detective of the Impossible and the Nightmare Investigator. A highly prolific artist, he has also worked on several other Bonelli characters, including Zagor and Dampyr, and he drew the miniseries Hellnoir written by Pasquale Ruju.
