Gino Vercelli

Gino Vercelli (born June 17, 1961, in Mombercelli, Asti) lives and works in Asti. He studied at the Istituto Statale d'Arte and later attended the Studio Dami in Milan, for which he produced some illustrations.

He made his debut in 1980, drawing a story published in the magazine "1984," and then alternated his work as an advertising graphic artist with short comics stories produced for "Boy Music," "Lanciostory," and the publisher Edifumetto.

His debut at Sergio Bonelli Editore came in 1988, when he drew a story that would appear in Zona X only four years later. In the meantime he joined the staff of Martin Mystère, for which he drew numerous stories, while for Zona X he produced some episodes of "La stirpe di Elän" and "Magic Patrol."

In 1996 he provided the artwork for the special album "Prigioniero del futuro," in which Nathan Never meets Martin Mystère. He also drew the second adventure featuring the two characters.

He drew the first issue of Jonathan Steele and then several others, until the title closed. Afterward he divided his time between the comics worlds of Martin Mystère and Nathan Never.

He is one of the founders of the Scuola del Fumetto in Asti and has founded a theater company, working as a director and actor for productions tied to local traditions or social themes. Alongside comics he also pursues his own informal pictorial research into color, exhibiting his works in group and solo shows in Italy and Switzerland.
