Zagor and Chico escape an inexplicable ambush. Who wants to kill them? But this is not the only mystery: Teseka's Ottawas have left Lake Erie because an aquatic monster prevents them from fishing. What is it really?

A likeable whale hunter, Captain Fishleg, helps Zagor and Chico hunt for the monster that infests Lake Erie. But his ship is destroyed and his men killed. Captured by his mysterious adversaries, the King of Darkwood discovers that the creature is actually a sophisticated submarine. And inside a futuristic underwater base, he meets an enemy believed to be dead...
