Tex and Carson protect the archaeological expedition of brothers Rick and Tony Roswell from attacks by hitmen hired by an unknown enemy. The first suspect is Domingo Ortiz, a bad guy with gallows determination, but when Tex and his pards enter his hovel to interrogate him, they find him with his throat cut and next to him lies the body of his own murderer! The mystery deepens as the expedition escorted by rangers reaches the Sierra Madre, where a submerged temple seems to hide an ancient Aztec treasure.
