Diamond Jim's Chinese accomplices are soon eliminated, and the vile kidnapper is made to sing: Kit is at sea with Captain Drake! Thus begins a long journey in the Pacific, aboard Billy Bart's Sea Tiger: first port of call Kalaupapa, where Blackbeard's crew is reduced to a bad job with the sound of punches in a room in the port.

Severely wounded, Lucero burns his ranch and leaves for the San Xavier mission. The friars help him as he is dying and the Indian, on the tomb of Father Michele, whom he himself killed, asks for forgiveness! The following summer, the pards stop in San Francisco to greet Tom Devlin and Mike Stacy: but the sinister Diamond Jim, who runs a thousand illicit activities in the city, to avenge his brother killed by the rangers during a previous cleanup in Frisco, has Kit Willer kidnapped by Captain "Blackbeard" Drake, who takes him aboard his sailing ship, the Black Shark.
