Having come to his senses thanks to Tex, after having almost left his father broke by stealing his livestock to pay off his gambling debts, Randy Cardigan regrets the mistakes he has made. As for Hogan and Owens, the leaders of the gang of raiders, ridiculed by Willer during a tense poker game, are stripped of all their possessions and chased away. Months later, the pards investigate a very particular gang of Apaches Mescaleros: after each bloody robbery, they disguise themselves as harmless Mexican shepherds and their leader, Lucero, assumes the identity of Don Fabio Esqueda, a respectable and well-educated businessman.
