After having paid the bill to Sheldon's ignoble sheriff, an accomplice of the cattle raiders who are working against Louis Cardigan's Sunset Ranch, Tex and Carson discover that the deception is based on the complicity of the unworthy son of the rancher, the dashing Randy. The boy has fallen into the clutches of the gang led by the professional cheater Chris Hogan: the bandits change the branding imprinted on Cardigan's cattle, hide the cattle in the land of the fraudulent breeder Owens and then make the stolen animals disappear in Mexico.

Left empty-handed, Kento's furious Cheyennes attack the trading post of Harport, an accomplice of Goldfield who was laundering the Indians' loot. The intervention of the pards saves the besieged from a bad end: the survivors of the clique of caravan raiders end up in prison and the Quakers arrive unharmed in California. Some time later, Tex and Carson are sent to the Gila River: the rancher Louis Cardigan is the victim of cattle raiders and his son Randy, supervisor of the ranch, was seen associating with Chris Hogan, a gambler from Sheldon.
