Having found the body of the diablera Mitla in the ruins of an Aztec temple, the threat of the werewolf is definitively foiled. Some time later, having recruited their Irish friend Pat Mac Ryan in the port of Corpus Christi, the pards headed towards Mexico. In fact, Montales is in trouble: he is blocked in his rancho by El Gato's desperados, a bandit in the pay of the sinister General Carranza, a traitor intent on snatching certain burning evidence from Montales' hands that could frame him! Tex and his associates enter the besieged farm.

A sort of monstrous and bloodthirsty werewolf carries out massacres among the Apaches of the Sierras, and only El Morisco, a scholar of occult sciences in Pilares, can stop the curse! The pards, having rushed to the aid of their friend and his trusted assistant Eusebio, are attacked by Mitla, a diablera of Aztec descent, capable of speaking with animals and inciting packs of wolves to attack man. She is the witch who periodically transforms her brother Guaimas into a werewolf, unleashing his beastly ferocity against the Indians.
