Moonflower, daughter of the Ute chief Flatnose, loves Kit, saved from the river but without memory, who she calls Tonkawa! Black Hawk, a warrior who hates whites and Navajos, is jealous: in cahoots with the trafficker Gentry and the renegade Standing Bear, he kills Flat Nose and, to ignite the spirits of the Utes, blames Tex!
