To bring justice to the Navajos, Tex and Carson hunt down the real murderers of Captain Curtis. They catch Sammy Wallace, a shady businessman from Gallup who was selling damaged goods at Fort Defiance in cahoots with Captain Rossiter and Sergeant Conroy. Some time later, the pards are tasked with finding a load of gold stolen from the Mexicans by the Apaches and thus avoid a diplomatic incident with Sonora. With the help of Cochise and an Indian map, the ingots are found, but the military column led by the rangers is exterminated by the desperadoes accomplices of the vile Captain Baker.

Captain Curtis, who is investigating certain shady goods trafficking at Fort Defiance, is killed by the thugs of the vile Captain Rossiter, who attack the stagecoach on which the officer was traveling escorting little Jos, son of Colonel Barry, commander of the outpost. Some young Navajos, witnesses of the attack, rescue the child by taking him to their camp, but the blame for the infamous murder falls on them, who are unjustly arrested by Barry himself. Tex and Carson thus set out on the trail of the true perpetrators of the crime.
