Carson is a prisoner of the black tribe led by the evil Thonga, who dethroned the wise Omoko and has teamed up with the desperado Matías to attack gold miners and caravans passing through the area. Tex, meanwhile, is fished out of the stream into which he had fallen, pierced by an arrow, and cared for by Kende, an elderly man loyal to the ousted old leader. Kende tells Willer the story of his people, descended from the survivors of the shipwreck of a slave ship. Then, going through an underground tunnel, he leads the Ranger into the secret valley.

Tex and Kende penetrate the village of the black raiders to free Carson and Omoko, the wise chieftain overthrown by the ferocious marauder Thonga! The clashes are furious but, in the end, the pards restore order in the secret valley: Omoko regains the throne and Thonga's followers are forced to submit. Some time later, in Arizona, the pards split up to track down four bloodthirsty robbers. Tiger Jack finds them in Wickenburg and to defend himself he must kill the sheriff, an accomplice of the scoundrels, and escape! A group of voluntary pursuers is immediately formed, on whose trail Carson later joins
