Forced by the desperado Macedo to take them by boat to the lair of El Caribe (a pirate who kidnapped the engineer Lacroix, designer of a new submarine, on behalf of a foreign power), the pards are shipwrecked on the island of San Fernando. And while Carson, injured during the landing, ends up in the hands of scoundrels, Tex finds unexpected help in Santiago, a shipwrecked former smuggler who hates the marauders who invade his islet. Moving through the jungle, silent as snakes, the two penetrate the fort of El Caribe, free the prisoners and arrest the leader of the corsairs.

Some time later, tasked with freeing the engineer Lacroix, kidnapped in the Gulf of Mexico to steal the secrets of his new submarine, the rangers defeat Macedo's desperados hired by the kidnappers.
