After the Mexican adventure, in which he became the hero of Mexico, Tex returns to Texas, still an outlaw, although he has obtained evidence of his innocence. He comes across infected cattle and the helpless rancher Stanfield, who is being pursued by the "Red Gang". Of course, Tex decides to help him…

The adventure is practically a prologue (in which Tex stands out for the first time among the cowboys) for the sequel that also involves the Chinese. The two stories could also be seen as a single adventure.

While Kit Carson and Marshall , warned by Tex, arrive in Maricopa, Tex "entertains" with the assassins of the Dragon, the Chinese master of the opium trade.

The story is a direct sequel of the previous one.
