According to Sheriff Callagher, Rio Lobo is a quiet place. As far as Tex and Carson are concerned, after arriving in town with the body of an unknown Mexican whom they had been unable to save from the fire of his pursuers, things are very different indeed. And the welcome of hot lead they receive as they leave Mama Teresa's cantina probably has something to do with the precious diadem found in the unlucky Mexican's saddlebag...

According to Sheriff Callagher, Rio Lobo is a quiet place. As for Tex and Carson, who arrived in town with the body of an unknown Mexican, who they were unable to escape from the fire of his pursuers, things are very different. And probably the hot lead welcome they receive when they leave Mother Teresa's cellar has something to do with the precious diadem found in the unfortunate Mexican's saddle bag... A Pima shaman accompanies Tex, Carson and the young Indian Juanito to the remote Jemez Canyon, where, according to an ancient map of the Anasazi people, an almost inaccessible pueblo could hide the secret of the god Kokopelli, magical guardian of great treasures. But the sacred pueblo dispenses death to anyone who enters it with non-pure intentions: what will be the fate of our heroes? Will they encounter the monstrous spirits, guardians of the impenetrable village, as the old shaman fears? Or will they have to deal with the bandidos of the grim Mexican Gavilàn, who, allied with the corrupt sheriff of Rio Lobo, will trap them in the dead-end canyon?
