Tex convinces Corvo Giallo, leader of the Piutes, to bury the hatchet and destroy the rifles illegally obtained from Andy Holt (a thug hiding a secret identity) in exchange for the cattle stolen from Jim Elmer. The weapons arrive from the self-styled general Quantrell, who steals them from the armies fighting in the Civil War to pass them on to the Piutes, the Crows and the Shoshones: reached by the Rangers, the coward tries to escape but falls from his horse, breaking his neck! Months later, the pards rescue a Hopi tied to the back of a charging bison: the beast is adorned with an enigmatic fetish...
